Training A Budgie To Work

Budgies can do many chores, but before being able to do them, you’ll have to train them for these chores. In this article, we’ll learn how to train budgies for the chores that need budgies to be trained for.

Separating Stuff

Training your budgie to separate stuff like millets from oats is essential. Let’s start! Here’s the list of steps to do:

1. Start separating the foods that you want to separate from each other for about three times.

2. Say, “separate,” while pointing to the food.

3. Wait for the budgie to separate. (Your budgie might not know how to separate the foods at first. Continue the process to succeed.)

4. After the budgie separates the foods, reward it with its favorite treat.

5. Continue saying, “separate,” and training your budgie.

6. Continue rewarding your budgie.

7. End session.

8. Have thirty-minute sessions like this for about two weeks.

After this training, your budgie should be able to separate foods.

Carrying Things

Now, we’ll train our budgie to carry things. The training with be easy and your budgie should get trained within a week or two, but I recommend having daily sessions for two weeks, not one. The following is a list of the steps you need to do:

1. Chop down some vegetables and take them to a pot or bowl.

2. Say, “carry,” while pointing to the food.

3. Wait for the budgie to take the pieces to the pot or bowl. (At first, your budgie might not know how take the pieces to the pot or bowl. Continue the process to succeed.)

4. After the budgie carries a piece, reward it with its favorite treat.

5. Continue saying, “carry,” and training your budgie.

6. Continue rewarding your budgie.

7. End session.

8. Have thirty-minute sessions daily.

After this training, your budgie should be able to carry the foods.
