Tom Budgereet

In Budgieland, there lived a budgie named Tom Budgereet. He decided to join Flying Adventures, a flock where budgies could do whatever they wanted. He was part of the Strict Life flock and hated being part of this flock. He wrote his name on a leaf, went to the boss of his flock, and asked for leaving his flock. The boss refused to let Tom leave the flock before finding another strict flock. He told his assistant to search for strict flocks nearby. His assistant told him that there was a small flock named Safety Time.

Safety Time contained two budgies and its boss was looking for a budgie to join the flock. She was happy to find Tom ready to join the flock. Strict Life’s boss got a leaf and wrote Tom’s name on it.

“How old are you?” he asked.

“Eight months old,” replied Tom.

“Were you mated before?” the boss asked.

“No,” Tom replied, “I think you don’t know me.”

“Of course not, I know you well, you’re the mad budgie.”

“I don’t know whether I’m mad or not, but that’s not the problem. Do you really know me?”

“Don’t keep asking the same question. I know all the budgies in my flock, I just wanna make sure whether you’re the mad one or not.”

The boss’s assistant took Tom to see Safety Time’s boss. Her name was Madgie and she was a very strict female. She made strange rules and her flock had to follow them.

Madgie greeted Tom. She was very pleased to see him. Tom was feeling the opposite.

Strict Life’s boss told his assistant to write down the name of the flock Tom was joining. Madgie wrote all of Tom’s personal information on a leaf. She put the leaf under a rock next to the other budgies’ names. Tom got to see the other two budgies in the flock. Their names were Dan and Eva.

Tom greeted the two.

Dan looked at him and said, “Tom, you’re the budgie from Strict Life, right? What is this kind of budgie? Bad one.”

“Good job Dan, good job!” Madgie said, giving Dan his treat.

Dan hit Eva. Tom was worried. Madgie was a horrible boss and Tom thought that she was worse that Strict Life’s boss because she gave Dan a treat for annoying him. Tom stood on a tree branch. Madgie scolded him.

As part of Safety Time, Tom explored the flock and its rules. Its rules bothered him. Dan kept bothering him. Madgie was happy. She wanted new flock members, but wanted to make them feel imprisoned at the same time. So, she made them feel bad. She made Dan her assistant and paid him with very rare treats.

This made Tom angry. He wanted to be given the rare treats. He was a new member and he was a smart budgie. So, he worked with Eva on a plan against Dan and the boss and their plan worked. He became the boss, made Eva his assistant, and ate all the delicious treats. Safety Time was loved and about one thousand budgies joined the flock.
